Editorial Standards
The principles that guide what we publish, how we evaluate information and how we earn the trust of our readers.
In the AI Era exists to help readers understand a period of unusually rapid technological and economic change.
We aim to be useful before we are sensational, clear before we are clever and independent in the conclusions we reach.
Get it right.
We aim to publish information that is accurate, properly sourced and presented in context. When a factual claim is important to the conclusions of a story, we seek reliable evidence to support it.
We distinguish between established facts, informed analysis, estimates and opinion.
Follow the evidence.
Our editorial conclusions are not for sale. Advertising, sponsorships, affiliate relationships and other commercial arrangements do not determine the conclusions of our editorial coverage.
When a commercial relationship is relevant to something we publish, we disclose it.
Show readers what we know.
We aim to make clear where information comes from, what remains uncertain and where reasonable people may interpret the evidence differently.
When reporting depends on estimates, forecasts or incomplete information, we say so.
Use technology. Keep responsibility human.
We may use artificial intelligence and other software tools to assist with research, analysis, organization, editing, production and other parts of our publishing workflow.
AI-generated output is not treated as an independent source of truth. Material published under the In the AI Era name remains subject to editorial judgment and review.
Recommend for the reader.
Reviews, rankings and recommendations are intended to help readers make better decisions. We consider factors such as usefulness, quality, value, capabilities, limitations and the needs of the intended user.
A company cannot purchase a favorable review, ranking or editorial recommendation.
Correct the record.
We correct material factual errors when we discover them. When a correction meaningfully changes the understanding of an article, we aim to make that change clear to readers.
Make commercial content obvious.
Advertising, sponsored material and paid partnerships should be distinguishable from independent editorial coverage.
We do not intentionally present paid promotional material as independent journalism.
Questions are welcome.
Readers who believe we have made a factual error or failed to meet these standards are encouraged to contact us.
